Advanced Technology

Precision Dentistry

When you seek care at our office, you are assured that Dr. Perona and staff utilize the latest in technology to enhance the quality and fit for your dental care. Here are some of the technologies that I use in my practice: Digital x-rays, CEREC, iTero scanner, T-scan, JVA (joint vibration analysis), MLS Cold laser therapy, Z Machine Home sleep test and Jade air filters, by Surgically Clean Air.

Many dentists use air-driven “hand-pieces” (the dental term for “drills”). While acceptable for many procedures, these “whiney sounding” air-powered hand pieces all have a degree of non-concentricity; they do not rotate perfectly smoothly.

For the most precise aspects of restorative procedures, we use electric hand-pieces. This results in extraordinarily precise interfaces between your tooth and your new restoration (dental crowns, tooth veneers, or tooth fillings). This will bring more comfort to you as well. With a more precise tool, there is less vibration and less noise.

Digital Imaging

Dr. Perona chooses carefully which and when radiographs are taken. There are many guidelines that we follow. Radiographs allow us to see everything we cannot see with our own eyes. Radiographs enable us to detect cavities in between your teeth, determine bone level, and analyze the health of your bone. We can also examine the roots and nerves of teeth, diagnose lesions such as cysts or tumors, as well as assess damage when trauma occurs.

Dental radiographs are invaluable aids in diagnosing, treating, and maintaining dental health. Exposure time for dental radiographs is extremely minimal. Dr. Perona utilizes Digital Imaging Technologies within the office. With digital imaging, exposure time is about 50 percent less when compared to traditional radiographs. Digital imaging can also help us retrieve valuable diagnostic information. We may be able to see cavities better.

Digital imaging allows us to store patient images, and enables us to quickly and easily transfer them to specialists or insurance companies.

What is CEREC? CEREC is an acronym…

  • Chairside: The technology is in the dental operatory and used while you are in the chair
  • Economical: The procedure is economical for both dentist and patient
  • Restorations: The procedure restores your tooth to its natural beauty, function, and strength
  • Esthetic: The restorations are metal-free and tooth-colored
  • Ceramic: High-strength ceramics are used that are close in composition to your natural tooth structure.

CEREC is an advanced dental restorative system that allows your dentist to restore decayed teeth, place crowns, remove defective amalgam fillings, or place cosmetic veneers in just one appointment. This allows you to have the highest quality, most lifelike dental restorations in just one visit to the dentist…in, out, and on with your busy life.

MLS Cold laser therapy

MLS COLD LASER THERAPYThe innovative and patented Multiwave Locked System® (MLS) Therapy Laser was developed in an effort to produce an efficient and simultaneous effect on pain, inflammation, and edema, while minimizing the risk of thermal damage. MLS Cold Laser therapy uses light to favor and accelerate the body’s natural healing processes.

The laser beam is moved over the skin so that the light energy (photons) penetrates the tissue where it interacts with various molecules (chromophores) that cause different biological effects. It produces a photochemical, photothermal and photomechanical effect.

iTero Digital Scanning Technology

iTero mobile scannerThe iTero Lumina system takes a highly accurate digital impression to capture the individual characteristics of your teeth and gum tissues. The iTero Lumina system helps us do what we do – only better. With fast processing and clear imaging, it transforms digital workflow and patient chairside consultations, so patients can better visualize their issues and options. In as little as 60 seconds and by using the iTeroTimeLapse, patients can see 3D visualizations of changes in tooth movement, tooth wear and changes in their gums or gingiva over time. This new technology displays magnification to help patients and our staff to focus on and prioritize areas of concern for better communication. The result is better patient relationships and understanding.

By using the iTero Lumina system you avoid the process of taking impressions which can be messy, gooey, unpleasant tasting, and time consuming. When taking impressions, some patients have been known to experience difficulty in breathing and swallowing. The iTero scanner eliminates this. The results are safe, accurate, and fast and will have you on the way to your best smile as quickly as possible.

The iTero Lumina will allow a speedier and more comfortable dental experience for Preventative Care, Cosmetic Dentistry, Periodontal Treatments, and much more!

Intraoral cameras also enable our practice to save your images in our office computer to provide a permanent record of treatments. These images can be printed for you, other specialists, and your lab or insurance companies.

T-Scan Novus Core Digital Occlusal Analysis System

T-Scan Novus Core Digital Occlusal Analysis SystemT-Scan Novus is an objective assessment tool used to evaluate the occlusion of a patient. Unlike articulating paper, which can only determine location, T-Scan Novus can identify both force and timing, two of the most fundamental parameters for measuring occlusion. This analysis allows Dr. Perona to pinpoint exact areas in your mouth that may need an adjustment.

BioJVA (Joint Vibrational Analysis)

Joint Vibration Analysis (JVA™)

BioJVA is a diagnostic tool utilized to assess the functioning of jaw joints, crucial before initiating any mandible repositioning treatment for optimal outcomes. It offers a quick and non-invasive Joint Vibrational Analysis, evaluating Temporomandibular Joint stability and function in under five minutes. Similar to how dentists assess tooth wear, JVA provides insights into jaw joint health based on motion and friction principles. Using BioPAK™ software, BioJVA records and presents movement measurements conveniently. With extensive research backing, it aids in identifying various dysfunctions on the Piper Scale of jaw joint dysfunction, facilitating swift diagnosis and treatment of TMD without causing discomfort.

Zmachine® Synergy HST (home sleep testing)

Zmachine SynergyBy integrating our FDA-cleared EEG-based sleep staging technology with conventional respiratory measures, the Zmachine Synergy offers a comprehensive solution in a next-generation home sleep testing system. With the incorporation of EEG-based sleep staging and a 3D body position sensor, the calculation of the Apnea Hypopnea Index (AHI) is based on sleep time, REM time, and sleep position, rather than just recording time. This ensures precise and insightful AHI values, particularly beneficial for patients with lower severity, sleep difficulties, and position-dependent symptoms.
With crystal clear instructions, ultra-small package, and a streamlined setup procedure, you will find the Zmachine Synergy easy to use and comfortable to wear during sleep.

JADE™2.0 Air Filters, by Surgically Clean Air

JADE-2.0 by Surgically Clear AirWhile indoor air purifiers are not a cure-all for indoor air quality (IAQ) related issues, they do perform a crucial function, cleaning the air of hazardous gasses and particles, and reducing the risk of pathogen exposure in the dental office setting.
We are utilizing the Jade Air Filter system, a powerful, multi-stage filtration technology which removes airborne particulates, pathogens and pollutants giving you fresh, clean and re-energized air. The HEPA-RX filter can remove 99.9% of airborne pathogens.
